The Dragonborn and The Fool ~ Make Love, Not Civil War

Chapter One: A Worried Mother, And a Sad Journey

Six months have passed by since the night Cicero and Melanie spent together, finally becoming one. Ever since that night, Melanie and Cicero had become inseparable. They went on numerous quests together, some for the College of Winterhold, some for the daedric prince's at the shrines that dotted Skyrim's landscape. Some of the daedric prince's quests were tedious to say the least, but Melanie was still happy that Cicero was there with her by her side the entire time.

Whilst fulfilling quests, Melanie and Cicero's nights had become very eventful. Melanie loves Cicero so much, and as they became comfortable with each other, their love making progressed to new levels. There were even times when they would be fighting in a dungeon, and upon completing said dungeon, Cicero would make love to Melanie immediately. His lust and love for her grew so vast they would find themselves making love standing up in crypts or narrow hallways. Melanie loved those moments when he would grab her firmly and roughly push her against a wall, ripping her clothing off with his dagger-like fingers. Her lust build-up gave her enough strength to tear his pants off in time, as he would shove himself inside her, leaving only his tunic and shirt on. Recently though they've put their love making on hold as they returned to the Dawnstar sanctuary; they didn't want their companions to know of their kinky love life.

"Cicero is going into town for provisions before we leave for Windhelm Melanie! Did you need anything? Potions? Food? Armor?" Cicero said as he walked over to the Night Mother, bowed to her coffin then turned to leave the sanctuary again, passing by Melanie as he went.

"No thank you Cicero," Melanie replied as Cicero kissed the top of her head before skipping off out of the sanctuary heading into Dawnstar.

"Windhelm? Why are you and Cicero leaving for Windhelm Listener?" Babette asked, as she sat at a table nearby.

"Oh Babette! Here I have something for you!" Melanie exclaimed happily, hoping to change the subject abruptly.

"What is it Listener?" Babette asked happily; Melanie often brought her many rare and interesting alchemical ingredients from time to time.

"I'm certain you will enjoy this! Here!" Melanie exclaimed while handing Babette a hefty sack, smiling wildly all the while.

"OH! DAEDRA HEARTS! THANK YOU SO MUCH LISTENER!" Babette exclaimed as happily as a normal child would upon receiving their most sought after toy for their birthday.

"Listener! You're back! And what of Cicero? Finally couldn't take his singing anymore?" Nazir asked, walking up the stairs to greet Melanie happily.

"Nazir! That's not a nice thing to say! My thane loves Cicero still, right my thane?" Lydia asked, joining Nazir at the top of the stairs, punching his arm angrily.

"Lydia! Nazir! Its great to see you again! Yes I still love Cicero so no Nazir I haven't gotten rid of him nor do I intend to," Melanie replied to Lydia happily gazing at her stomach. "How are you and the baby doing?" she asked.

"Oh we are doing quite well! Thank you for asking my thane!" Lydia replied, rubbing her large bulbous stomach happily. Upon the same night Melanie and Cicero became one, Lydia and Nazir surprisingly conceived a baby.

"Melanie...come to Mother...Mother wishes to know why you and Cicero are going to Windhelm..." said the Night Mother's voice inside Melanie's head.

"Sorry everyone. Mother is calling. So if I may, I'd like to have the room," Melanie said as everyone obligingly bowed to her and headed down stairs.

Melanie walked over to the Night Mother's coffin and kneeled before the remains of the Night Mother herself. "Mother, sweet Mother. Cicero and I have decided to go to Windhelm to join the Stormcloaks with their Civil war against the Imperials," Melanie said in a whisper.

"Why are you doing that? Let the fools have their Civil war! This is no concern for the Dark Brotherhood..." the Night Mother said, mild annoyance dripping from her voice, into Melanie's head.

"In a way Mother, the Civil war does concern us," Melanie said earnestly.

"How so?" the Night Mother asked curiously.

"Was it not the Imperials who drove us from our home at the Falkreath Sanctuary?" Melanie asked.

"Ahh...you do have a point...well then I will allow you and Cicero to leave us and exact revenge on the Imperials..." the Night Mother said thoughtfully this time.

"Thank you Mother," Melanie said, smiling sweetly at the Night Mother, before standing up and taking her final bow to her coffin.

"Have you and Cicero wed yet?" the Night Mother asked.

Melanie stayed bowed, as she tried to process what the Night Mother had asked her. "No, we have not yet wed. To be honest neither of us have thought or said anything about getting married since we briefly returned to the sanctuary six months ago," Melanie replied, standing up straight in front of the Night Mother.

"That is unfortunate...you and Cicero would be happiest together as husband and wife instead of traveling companions, yes?"  the Night Mother asked sincerely.

As Melanie continued her conversation with the Night Mother, Cicero had walked into the sanctuary carrying a sack of potions and alchemical ingredients. He stopped walking at Melanie's voice and listened to her talk to the Night Mother.

"Yes Mother we would be happier. I love him with all my heart, I would give anything to be with him for all eternity," Melanie replied, placing her right hand on her chest and closing her eyes thoughtfully.

Cicero felt his face redden at Melanie's words, as he too placed his right hand on his chest. 'Cicero has forgotten to wed his lover! Cicero has only been wanting to make love to her! Oh poor Cicero! Poor Melanie! Cicero is sorry and will make it up to you Melanie!' Cicero thought as he walked out of the side hall and joined Melanie in the Night Mother's chamber.

"Melanie! Cicero has returned!" Cicero said happily as Melanie let her hand fall to her side and smiled sweetly at him.

"Cicero! I see you were successful in buying potions and ingredients," Melanie said as Cicero walked over to her and gave her the sack. "Thank you Cicero! I love you," Melanie said, placing the sack on the floor nearby and hugged him.

She nuzzled his chest lovingly for a while, then placed her head against his chest where his heart is and listened to his heart beat. He wrapped his arms around her petite frame, holding her close to him in a silent vow of not letting her go. He placed his chin on the top of her head for a moment then pulled away from the hug, grabbed her chin and pulled her up for a loving kiss. He tried his hardest at first to keep his tongue from piercing her lips to play with hers but could not hold it back for long. She moaned lightly, as he returned her moan with his own groan then quickly pulled away before they continued into dangerous territory.

"Melanie, Cicero loves you very much. Here, Cicero bought this and thought it would look better on your hand than sitting in a dusty old shop," he said, handing her a gold and emerald ring. He placed it on her index finger on her right hand and admired it for a while. Her heart leapt inside her chest as he put it on her finger; she so desperately wanted him to marry her more than anything now.

"Oh Cicero thank you. It's lovely," Melanie said, admiring it with him. She pulled her hand away from his and leaned against him again. "Cicero, lets get married. After all it has been six months since you proposed and I said yes to you," she said into his chest.

Cicero took a moment before responding. "Melanie, you sent a letter to Ulfric Stormcloak telling him of our arrival for tomorrow. Cicero thinks we shouldn't keep the Jarl of Windhelm waiting," he said simply. He grabbed her shoulders and pulled her away from his chest to look him in the eye. "Cicero loves you and will marry you someday. But we must first fulfill our arrangement to the Jarl," he said, rubbing a tear away from her face.

"So you won't be staying then?" came Nazir's voice from below them as he helped Lydia and Babette with their dinner preparations.

Melanie and Cicero looked down at their companions from the barred balcony archway. Melanie tried to hide her tears from them, especially from Lydia, and replied, "No sorry we cannot stay." She looked at Cicero with a hurt expression on her face then continued, "We have an arrangement with Ulfric Stormcloak which we cannot pass up. But please, enjoy your meal." She pulled away from Cicero and stalked off towards the door to the sanctuary. Cicero followed her, grabbing up the pack of items he just bought, keeping his distance away from her as they met up outside at his old cart.

'Did Cicero do something wrong? Did he say something hurtful? Oh Melanie, Cicero will make it up to you this Cicero promises with all of his heart,' he thought sadly.

Melanie said nothing to him as she climbed into the back of the cart, reaching over the side for the pack. He handed it to her without saying anything to her either then climbed up onto the seat of the cart. He grabbed Shadowmere's reigns, prepared to depart. He turned himself to face Melanie, who resolved herself to sitting with her back to him and he kissed the top of her head, hoping she would acknowledge him. When she didn't, he turned back to face ahead and snapped the reigns to start their sad, quiet departure to Windhelm.
